Girls Varsity Volleyball vs. Bedford Senior High School

The Monroe varsity volleyball team wrapped up their season with a loss to Bedford in the first round of district play, 15-24, 16-25, 18–25. The team came out strong and ready to play, but lost consistency throughout matches and was not able to pull out a win. It was a team effort and everyone put in everything they had. Mackenzie Tucker lead the team with 12 kills and Merin Merkle added five. Brynn Reece notched 18 assists and 13 digs. Defensively, Anna Tedora had 33 digs and Gabby Anderson recorded 16.

The varsity volleyball team finished up their regular season today at the Ann Arbor Huron tournament. The team went 3-2 losing to Grand Ledge in three sets in the semifinals of the gold bracket. The Trojans begin district play on Tuesday at 5 PM at Bedford High School against Bedford.

The Lady Trojans recorded a three-set sweep of the Jackson Warriors, 25 to 29, 25 to 12, 25 to 18. Makenzie Tucker lead the team with 15 kills, hitting .500, and was supported by several teammates that earned season-high numbers. Seniors Gabby Anderson (22 digs) and Abbie Rorke (14 digs) both had season highs from the back row, making it difficult for the Warriors to put the ball on the floor. Juniors Sydney Button (6 aces and 3 kills) and Merin Merkle stepped up. Merkle had season highs with 8 kills (.727) and 5 blocks. Brynn Recee ran the offense, earning a season high of 32 assists and 13 digs. The ladies played well as a team, and everyone contributed to the victory.
The Lady Trojans wrap up the regular season at Ann Arbor here on this Saturday.

MHS dropped a close 4 set match to Lincoln Tuesday night: 21-25, 27-25, 23-25, 17-25. The lady Trojans kept it close all night, but couldn't pull off the win in close sets. Brynn Reece had 30 assists. Mackenzie Tucker had 12 kills. Gabby Anderson had 19 digs and Anna Tedora contributed 36.

The lady Trojans had a difficult time getting consistent and having all aspects of the game come together Tuesday night as they dropped their league match to Ann Arbor Huron 18 to 25, 14 to 25, 23 to 25. Anna Tedora recorded 30 digs while MacKenzie Tucker added 10 kills, eight digs, and two aces. CJ Jenkins added four blocks.

It was a disappointing night for the lady Trojans. The team dropped three street sets to the Dundee Vikings 21-25, 19-25, and 22-25. The team just never could really get everything going at the same time. Well our defense played well, we just could not get our offense going.

A solid performance was a put in by the Lady Trojans tonight as the team played neck and neck with the Skyline Eagles, 24-26, 18-25, 18-25. A few in opportune errors kept them from taking a set. The girls worked hard and fought for each point. Mackenzie Tucker lead the team with nine kills. Brynn Recee had 21 assists, three aces, eight digs, and two blocks. Anna Tedora had 21 digs and Gabby Anderson contributed 12 digs. The Trojans play home for senior night against the Dundee Vikings on Thursday.

Tough day for the Trojans with injury and illness. The team went 1-5 on the day. Makenzie Tucker had 52 kills and 46 digs, Anna Tedora contributed 113 digs and 12 aces. Brynn Reece recorded 90 assists.

The team started slow today, it just didn't feel like the girls were all on the same page during the first set, and then played from behind for most of the second set. After a time out, trailing 13-21, the team rallied back, behind the serving of Abbie Rorke, and won the second set 25-22. The team's ability to battle back showed the fight that they have inside of them as a team. Makenzie Tucker lead the offense with 13 kills. CJ Jenkins stepped up for the lady Trojans with a seven kills. Merin Merkle and Kamryn Bice both added six kills a piece and Merkle lead the blocking. Anna Tedora recorded 14 digs and Abby Rorke and Gabby Anderson both had seven. Alana Aluph had 11 assists and five digs for the Trojans. The team plays this weekend at Woodhaven.

The Trojans team faced a solid team when they traveled to Saline. Although the team dropped the match in three straight sets, they battled until the final whistle. Brynn Reece lead the team with 10 assists and 3 aces. Anna Tedora recorded 20 digs. The attack was led by Mackenzie Tucker and Kamryn Bice with 6 kills each and Bella Wagasy added 4 kills.

The Varsity Volleyball Team put together a solid league win over Bedford this evening, sending the Mules home in three straight sets: 27-25, 25-20, 21-25. A balanced effort from the entire team made the win possible. Brynn Reece executed the offensive game plan while Anna Tedora recorded a season high 40 digs in the contest. The hitting and serving of Mackenzie Tucker (14 kills and 6 aces) led the team offensive attack. Sydney Button (4 kills) and CJ Jenkins (4 kills) rounded out the Trojans offense and Merin Merkle recorded 7 blocks.
