SKYLINE HS: 3
Monroe Boys' varsity soccer team wound up their league season with a 3-1 defeat at home to Skyline. It was an eventful game with a reshuffled team for the Trojans. Despite having regulars Lucis Rzepa, Talen Swinkey, and Trevor Mann unavailable and several players carrying knocks, the team still manged to provide a stern test for the visitors. The result was overshadowed by the unfortunate loss of Logan Janes to a season ending broken collar bone in the first half. Behind 2-0 at the half the lads rallied after the break and pulled a goal back through Austin Dunn who intercepted a pass and drilled home from the edge of the box. Good performances from Nik Heringhausen and Manuel Diaz in the back and Nick Lieto and Alex Gawel up front. Freshman Tobin Becker was rescued from the bleachers at half time as the team was down to a single sub and he made his varsity debut in the second half. Skyline added a third late in the game but still a worthy performance in adverse circumstances for the Trojans. Final 1-3
